Last week at the Congressional Correspondence Dinner, Rand Paul got up and took a couple of shots at his fellow conservatives:

At Palin: (2:00 mark)

Now, some of you may have heard that one of the Pauls might be running for president. It’s a tough decision. I mean, you talk to your wife, your minister, if you’re a democratic, your spiritual adviser, you know, it’s a tough decision. But i mean, it’s gotten even tougher. I mean, Sarah Palin sort of paved a new path for all of us. Now we got to decide if you want to be leader of the free world or have a reality TV show. I mean, it’s a really tough decision.

At Gingrich (6:20 mark)

I was happy to see that Newt Gingrich has staked out a position on the war, a position, or two, or maybe three. I don’t know. He may have more war positions than he’s had wives.

Now I know many would argue that it was a comedy roaster. But are these things really necessary? Forgive me for thinking that comedy roasters are for comedy not for hurting peoples feelings. There are enough things to joke about people without touching the most sensitive issues, you know those that liberals use against them all the time.

This is not about Rand Paul or about my support for Governor Palin. In fact the shot at Gingrich was much worse than the shot at Palin, this is about conservatives bickering with each other all the time to score some cheap political points.

Recently on twitter you had two conservatives fighting with each other over how often they met at cocktail parties, it got really personal.

It’s not about those individual cases, those are just examples of the  increasing number of cases where  conservatives have been hitting each other.

Conservatives have to quit tearing each other apart. No way are we going to win elections with cheap shots and bickering.

Debate the issues and challange each other on what you would do to resolve the nations problems, but personal attacks should be off limits. Because if the cheap shots and the bickering is what we’re going to go with, we’re practically telling voters that we have nothing else to run on in which case we’re no better than President Obama.
