There is a debate if those comments by Bachmann were a shot at Governor Palin or not.

Michele Bachmann says Sarah Palin should wait till her children are grown up before she runs for the presidency – and implies that the former Alaska governor should have held off on any kind of White House campaign while she still had children in the house.

In a video from last week’s Faith and Freedom Conference, Bachmann tells conservative Christian activist Ralph Reed, “”We’ve raised a lot of children, five biological children, 23 foster kids,” Bachmann says. “This fall our youngest two will go off to college, so we’re coming to the conclusion now of 29 years of parenting, and I think that’s one life lesson that you learn. That sometimes you have patience and wait to do certain things in your life.”

Host: As a conservative woman of faith, a very devout Christian faith, it seems like to me as an observer that up until Sarah Palin and you and some other, sort of trailblazers, that liberal women really dominated the role of women in politics. And I’m wondering if you don’t see that changing.

We’ve got Rebecca Clayfish, the new Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin is here. We’ve had a lot of women like Nikey Haley and many others who got elected in 2010. Do you see a generation of women of conservative convictions and Christian faith, of a belief that you can be successful outside the home but also continue to embrace the values of marriage and family. Do you see that change in the direction of the country?

Bachmann: Well I do and I know that there were women of faith that were involved in politics before as well. There just wasn’t the level of attention on them. But certainly I think you are exactly right, that conservative women of faith have come to much higher prominence in recent years than they have before.

And one thing that I have learned throughout the course of my life, I’m 55 years old, I’ve learned that you can have it all, but not all at once. And so now, my husband and I will be married 33 years this year, we’ve been parenting for 29 years, we’ll have a high school graduation this fall – actually in a week – and this fall our youngest 2 will go off to college. So we’re coming to the conclusion now of 29 years of parenting and I think that’s one life lesson that you learn. That sometimes you just need to have patience and wait to do certain things in your life.

The Right Scoop argues that claiming this was an attack on Governor Palin is ridiculous:

This is ridiculous. She says NOTHING about Palin and Palin’s name is only mentioned tangentially by the host to note which women he sees as conservative trailblazers. The question is not about Sarah Palin.

Bachmann is answering for herself and is telling about life lessons she’s learned along the way. She’s substantiating part of the process she’s gone through in determining if she’s going to run for president, which has a lot to do with family.

If you think this is a slam at Sarah Palin, then you might just be a little too sensitive about Sarah Palin. This was recorded almost two weeks ago at the Faith and Family Coalition. She in no way mentioned Sarah Palin nor did she infer that Sarah Palin should follow the life lessons she’s learned.

That’s my take and I’m sure there will be a plenty of you that disagree. But listen to the video as it speaks for itself.

There is not much that The Right Scoop and I disagree on but this is one that I respectfully do disagree with him.

the question was about the rise of conservative woman of faith in politics, and whether she sees a change of direction in the country on that level.

Bachmann’s response was two part. The first part was a direct response to the question where she says;

Then she goes completely off topic blabbering away how she raised all her kids and that her youngest is now about to go off to collage. How “sometimes you just need to have patience and wait to do certain things in your life”. Basically saying that you can’t raise a family and run for political office at the same time.

Where did that come in, and why was that relevant to the question? This wasn’t just a direct shot at Palin, this was a shot at every women in politics who still has children at home and a shot at every women with children trying to have it all.

Michele Bachmann has been stabbing Palin for months now. She’s running around Iowa trashing Palin. She has contacted Palin volunteers trying to peel them off Governor Palin, telling them that Palin is a quitter and has no chance of wining the nomination. Only last week, the first duty of her new campaign manager was to attack Palin. After Tucson not only did Bachmann not defend Palin, it was at that point where Bachmann decided to throw Palin under the bus. this is just a few of the many examples of how Bachmann is working for Romney to take down Palin.

If this story had been reversed, the entire international media would have been attacking Palin for dissing Bachmann. Had any of the male candidates said the same thing, the story would have been plastered all across the internet. Yet, for some odd reason Bachmann gets a pass even from Palin supporters.
