During an interview on Meet the press Vice president Joe Biden opened a can of worms when he said that he supports gay marriage. This brought the issue to the forefront of the 2012 presidential election and increased pressure on President Obama to come clean whether he supports Gay Marriage or not.
After mounting pressure he has:
In an interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts, the president described his thought process as an “evolution” that led him to this place, based on conversations with his own staff members, openly gay and lesbian service members, and conversations with his wife and own daughters.
“I have to tell you that over the course of several years as I have talked to friends and family and neighbors when I think about members of my own staff who are in incredibly committed monogamous relationships, same-sex relationships, who are raising kids together, when I think about those soldiers or airmen or marines or sailors who are out there fighting on my behalf and yet feel constrained, even now that Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is gone, because they are not able to commit themselves in a marriage, at a certain point I’ve just concluded that for me personally it is important for me to go ahead and affirm that I think same sex couples should be able to get married,”
We live in a world where political correctness has gotten out of control, dare a politician say what they actually believe they’ll be crucified, non-withstanding the fact that the majority of Americans may actually agree with them.
Fortunately I’m not a politician, I don’t plan to run for office so I’m not bound by the political correctness rules.
I have many friends, each of them have various different favourite sexual positions. What they are I don’t know, and frankly I don’t care. Why? Because this is a PRIVATE issue and should not be a public discussion.
When you apply for a job or want to join the military, no one asks you what your favourite sexual positions are. There is no “don’t ask don’t tell” on favourite sexual activities.
Homosexuality is also an act that people do in the privacy of their own home. It’s a sexual preference that is done between two people and should remain a private issue.
Evidently, the left has decided, for their own political agendas, to take a group of people who have a certain “private” sexual preference and stereotyped them labelling them as “Gays”. They have taken these people turned them into a “cause” just so they can claim that they are their only friends.
This is like taking people who have a preference on pizza toppings and labelling them as such. How about we start labelling people who like anchovy pizza “anchoviests” or people that like olive pizza, “olivos”? We’ll argue that they are mistreated; they are a minority and give them special rights. The same rights we give to people who like plain Pizza.
The left has been quite clever doing this. They have turned homosexuality into an issue that if you don’t agree with it or believe that it’s immoral you are a homophobic, a bigot and an extremist.
But they were not happy with that, they decided to take it a step further: Gay Marriage.
When a couple get married nothing really changes in their lives. Their physical appearance don’t change, nothing changes from the day before other than they are now united by G-d. Marriage is not material it’s “spiritual”. It’s a Divine blessing.
We can try to spin this in whatever way possible, and I’m not going to go into the morality of homosexuality, I’ll leave that for another time. But by all measures, no matter what religion you believe in, whether you read the Torah, Bible or Quran this is one issue they are all in agreement. Homosexuality is considered to be immoral and bluntly speaking, as far as G-d is concerned, an abomination. Accepting Gay Marriage is basically disavowing the law of G-d. If you believe in Gay Marriage the entire concept of marriage doesn’t apply to you even between a man and a women.
That’s not to say that “Gay” people cannot be religious, or don’t believe in G-d. Of course they can and many do. We all have our weaknesses and no one is perfect. But that should be an issue between man and his creator. But to publically advocate for Gay Marriage, using a spiritual blessing to apply it to something that divine has been pretty clear about where it stands on the issue is simply wrong , does not make any sense and questions the entire understanding of the concept of marriage.
If you want to give same sex people who are committed to each other and live together various perks or benefits, that’s fine, hey I’m a conservative, I’m all for tax cuts wherever possible. But give the same perks and benefits to any two people of the same sex living together, whether they are two heterosexual friends, two brothers who are losers and simply cannot get any dates, father and son, two sisters, mother and daughter. It should not be related to what they do in their bedrooms. As long as they can prove that they live together and are committed to each other for the long term, they get the perks whether they do certain activities in their bedroom or not.
Those who support Gay Marriage use “civil equality” as their argument. They compare it to civil rights giving black people the same equal rights as white people. That is the most ridiculous comparison one could make. It’s a huge difference between giving the same rights to people who just have different color skin than accepting Gay Marriage.
No one wants to take away any rights from people who have certain preference in the privacy of their own home. They have all the same rights as everyone else has. The issue of Gay Marriage has nothing to do with rights or equality, it simple comes down to whether marriage applies to people of the same sex or not. And by all standards, definitions and translations it does not. Marriage is not a”right” it’s a spiritual blessing.
My washing machine and dryer have been together for years, the dryer sits on top of my washer, they share the same cloth and usually work together. If I would suggest they get married I would be considered crazy. Because it IS crazy. Washing machines and dryers just can’t get married. Why would gay marriage be different? Sure, the couple may live together, share everything and do everything together, but marriage between two people other than between a man and a woman simply does not apply.
I have many friends who have this preference, I may not agree with the idea but we don’t talk about it, I am not G-d’s police officer and it’s not my business what they do in the privacy of their own home. But I don’t stereotype them and I don’t label them either.
Some might argue that recent polls suggest that Americans are moving in the direction of accepting Gay Marriage, but when it comes down to people actually voting on the issue it gets voted down every time. To date 32 states have amended their constitutions to ban Gay Marriage. Even in liberal California, Gay Marriage was voted down. The majority of Americans are against Gay marriage and rightly so. Polls can be manipulated, weighed and measured. Actual votes tell the true story.
If the left get away with this, it won’t stop there, give it another couple of years and you‘ll be considered a bigot and an extremist for voicing your opposition to abortion. Not going to happen, I hear you say? Just wait, they said the same thing about Gay Marriage just 10 years ago.
The only way this can be fought is to turn the tables on the left, it is not those who oppose gay marriage that are extremist or bigots, it is those who support it that have taken a group of people who have a certain private and personal preference, turned them into a cause and stereotyped them for their own political gain.
In a perfect world politicians would have the moral decency to publically say what they really believe, but unfortunately in the current political correctness society we live in, no politician has the guts to say so.
